I have a favourite dress. It's pretty simple but one that I love for the ease in which I can throw it on on a hot day and feel dressed in a second. It's always with me on trips partly because it always looks good and dosen't mind being scrunched into a bag at the last minute. On a recent visit to Kenya I met a wonderfully charismatic gentleman who happened to own a small tailoring business in the local village. His studio is heaving with textiles, garments in varying stages of life hang from the ceiling and down the walls and there's a constant whirring from the machines. It's a hive of activity that hums with life. It seemed the most obvious thing to ask him to make FLINT some clothes and so that's what we did. Armed with delicious hand block printed cottons from India, we hurried back to see what he'd make of them.
I'm happy to report, they came out perfectly. And you seem to like them too judging by how quickly they're flying off the rail in our studio. We'll keep ordering for as long as the summer weather lasts and then, when we go back to Kenya in November, we'll make some more.
