Spring collections at FLINT

We are optimists. The wind and rain are still battering against our windows but Spring is resolutely on its way and we are looking forward to welcoming the new season in the form of lightweight knits, chiffon shirts, silk dresses...Ahhh, not long now..!

A selection of pieces from our collections will be available online, so do keep checking our site for updates..

The first of the new collections are starting to arrive now. Malene Birger was first off the block - her graphic print tunic dresses and satin tops are now in store and selling despite the weather. Some great tees and tops will be on our rails in the next few days.

Rosso 35 is due in next week - the delivery has been brought forward by demand from certain customers who can't wait for their linen dresses, tunics, smocks and shirts..! This is a great label from Italy, the fabrics are gorgeous.

Vanessa Bruno Athe will also arrive in the next couple of weeks. This pretty collection of blouses and shirts are going to be perfect transition pieces in the coming months, paired with jeans for a laid-back look.

Look out for our ezines in the coming weeks - we'll update you with each new drop!

We've been testing out our new range....

I've just got back from an amazing adventure in Kenya hosted by our Norwegian friends at their camp, Basecamp Kenya. You can find the details here - www.basecampkenya.com. One of the many reasons this company is so special, is that they built a camp in a conservancy created in conjunction with the Maasai, land that is leased from the Maasai, and they have named the conservancy 'Naboisho', meaning 'coming together' in Maa.

For the past few months I have been working with the supremely talented Amanda from Wellgreen Lewes - www.wellgreenlewes.com, on a range of natural, therapeutic balms to be stocked at FLINT, which have been inspired by the places I love to visit around the world. Our aim is to bottle the scent of a place, an evocation of a place in a jar....

Kenya being one of my favourite destinations, we had to include it on our list. I took along a bag load of samples on this trip, seeking approval from our Maasai friends Moses and Manfred....

The Kenya balm, yet to be named (it's still early days!), contains Leleshwa which Amanda painstakingly distilled in her workshop. Leleshwa is one of the many important plants to the Maasai which they use as a perfume. This strong, clean smelling plant reminds me of Tea Tree but it's much sweeter, more herby than that. We have combined it with vanilla and coffee among other things, to try and capture the smell out in the savannah.

Tom Homewood exhibition

We have been showing the work of artist Tom Homewood, for a few years now. We love in equal measure, the simplicity and quiet modesty of his drawings and the breathtaking abstract landscapes he has been working on recently. These brilliantly observed drawings and beautiful abstracts inspired by the Sussex landscape have won him many fans far and wide. His latest collection for our Winter Exhibition will feature among other delights, some scenes inspired by one of the many events steeped in Lewes-lore, Bonfire. Please contact us if you'd like more information or if you'd like to see some images of Tom's work in advance of our Private View, which takes place on November 8th 7-9pm.
